West Bridgewater Company Plans to Hire More Workers at New Building
There was good news Tuesday for folks looking for work in a struggling economy: Cheer Pack North America plans to expand and add more jobs over the 75 employees added when it moved recently into town. Steve Gosling, president of Cheer Pack, said the company plans to add 25 to 30 more jobs in the next four months. The company currently has 110 employees. “All aspects of the business are growing so we’ll be adding to the sales group and all general support, purchasing, procurement,” Gosling said.
The company celebrated with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and celebration at noon today at the plant at One United Drive. The company started operations in its new 187,000-square-foot space on United Drive in August. It hired 75 people to work as engineers, machine operators and laborers in shipping and receiving, among other job duties, Gosling said.
Cheer Pack announced in February it would move its manufacturing from Plymouth Industrial Park to a larger space on United Drive in West Bridgewater. The company used its former site to attach straws to food pouches produced overseas. It plans to manufacture those pouches in the new site.
In March, the town voted at a special town meeting to grant a tax increment financing agreement to the company. The town expects to receive $600,000 in new tax revenues over the next 15 years even with the tax agreement.
CDF Corp., a Plymouth manufacturer, launched the company in 2010 as a joint venture with two partners – Gualapack, an Italian company, and Hosokawa Yoko, the Japanese firm that invented the flexible packaging.
“We’re off to a really good start,” Gosling said.
